A lot goes into putting together a
successful show. Costumes, props, make-up, rehearsal, the list is almost
endless. This week, Africa’s hotshots have been preparing the
extravaganza of a lifetime. From creation to completion, they can be
commended for their energy and enthusiasm, particularly amongst the
numerous scraps and squabbles which have broken out. Finally pulling
together, the two teams impressed Africa with colour, music and pizazz.
The week’s theme of musical theatre was
approached with gusto as a host of teachers, trainers and instructors,
well-versed in the art of performance, came to the house to assist the
hotshots in honing their skills and make sure they put on the very best
show. All the housemates incorporate performance into their daily lives
through their careers, and we all know how much they love music. The
musical in musical theatre is thus something the housemates have made
apparent with a week full of musical tunes and tones. The sound of
drums, keyboards, guitars and various voices throughout the house were
almost ceaseless.
Tension was thrown into the mix right
from the start when Biggie decided the housemates should be split in two
teams that would go up against each other on the night. Laveda came
under fire for picking what many believed to be the stronger performers,
namely: Alusa,JJ, Permithias, Esther, Kacey Moore, Goitse, Arthur,
Frankie, Tayo, Sabina, Lilian and Samantha. Together they formed the
Green Peppers. The underdog, dubbed Team Waka Waka, consisted of the
remaining housemates: Sheillah, Nhlanhla, Luis, Macky2, Trezagah,Mr.
265, Sipe, Idris, Resa, Ellah, Mira, Butterphly, and M’am Bea.
The divide, between what became known as
The Artists (Laveda’s team) and The Intellectuals (Sheillah’s team),
caused further rifts among the housemates when they discovered that the
winning team would be immune from nomination for eviction in the week to
come. As always, this is a decision that Africa will make, and based on
the effort from both teams, and the spectacular results, it will be a
tough decision to make. But alas, there can be only one, and it’s up to
Africa to decide.
Remember: there is a lot at stake
tonight for the hotshots! The housemates of the winning team will be
immune from nominations in the week to come. It’s time to vote Africa!
